  • From Brevard, North Carolina.
  • 1998-2022, played guitar and sang lead vocals for the Steep Canyon Rangers. As a member of that group, he toured with Steve Martin, won several Grammy awards and was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame.
  • He is also an avid fly fisherman, conservationist and realtor.
  • 2024, formed his own band Woody Platt and the Bluegrass Gentlemen. He also performs in a duet with his wife Shannon Whitworth.
  • 2024, released first solo project Far Away with You (Compass).
