- 2003, Gibson issued “Wayne Benson Signature” model mandolin.
- 2004, left IIIrd Tyme Out to join the John Cowan Band.
- 2007, returned to Third Tyme Out.
- 2013, recorded an album of mandolin duets with Alan Bibey, Mandolin Chronicles
